Things to get indulged in at South Padre Island Texas

The town of South Padre Island, Texas works really hard to utilize its sunny climate. The town covers the southern 5 miles of the South Padre Island. The water of the sea is warm almost through the year, the beaches are clean and the laid-back locals are welcoming to the tourists who cover the 2.5 Queen Isabella Causeways from the mainland to visit the town.

The most sought-after period to visit the place is during the spring break i.e. all of the March except the first week and the summers when the moderate gulf breeze hits the shore making the weather tolerable than the sweltering inland areas. Normally January and February are bit chilly and the quietest months to visit the place. Mentioned below are some of the key attractions of the hotels in South Padre Blvd.

Windwaterhotel

Sea Turtle, Inc

It is always fun to watch sea turtles. Yes, you obviously can’t handle sea turtles, but you can learn firsthand about the slow rebirth of this endangered species. Usually, Kemp’s ridley turtles are found in the area. This place also serves as the hospital for injured animals and runs educational programs for the public and liberates young turtles once they are old enough to live on their own.

South Padre Island Birding & Nature Centre

This is a part of the world birding centre and is 50-acre natural preserve with boardwalks through the dunes, bird blinds, spotting tower and a lot of other things. Being here, you can learn to distinguish between a salt marsh, a dune meadow and an inter-tidal flat in the flashy exhibit hall. You can also witness butterflies, alligators, turtles, crabs, egrets etc.

North End

North of Isla Blanca there’s 20 miles of empty sand and dunes all the way to Port Mansfield Pass. Nude sunbathers, bird-watchers, anglers and other outdoorsy people find solace here. You can take vehicles on the beach but stay aware of the soft sand.

Andy Bowie County Park

Andy Bowie County Park is a pleasant beach park surrounded by condo and hotel developments. It has shaded picnic building with views and real toilets and is 5.5 miles north of Isla Blanca. Beach Access 2 has all the facilities but you have paid the entry fees. However, for free entrance access, you can continue to Beach Access 3 and 4.

Edwin King Atwood County Park

This place is two miles north of the Bowie and has a signboard of Beach Access 5. Atwood sports towering sand dunes backed with the beautiful sunny beach, this place offers unspoiled natural experience with long views of the horizon and just a couple of toilets.

All these places and many more things, you can visit South Padre Island Texas to have a close rendezvous with nature.
